Bill Parlatore is located in Annapolis, Maryland and is a marketing consultant for Seattle Yachts.
Bill started sailing in the ’70s aboard a Morgan 27 raced out of Shilshole Bay in Seattle, followed by a Tahiti ketch he lived aboard on Lake Union. After a successful information management consulting career in IT on both coasts, he was ready to go cruising.
Not finding much information in their search for a trawler, however, he and his wife, Laurene, launched PassageMaker, The Trawler & Ocean Motorboat Magazine, in 1995. They dedicated this niche publication to the trawler community, which many viewed as the “bible” of power cruising. TrawlerPort came next, an event series within an existing boat show, and when they purchased the struggling standalone Trawler Fest, they built it into a major event around the country to encourage, educate, and celebrate the cruising lifestyle.
Bill spent many years traveling the world’s inland waterways and oceans on cruising powerboats from all builders. He is a past member of the Safety at Sea Planning Committee at the U.S. Naval Academy and served two terms on the Board of Directors of the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC). Today, Bill is a regular member of the Ocean Cruising Club and an active member of the Annapolis Yacht Club.
